Does insurance reimburse home care?

Quick answer
Reimbursement of home care depends on your coverage. AMO/CNSS and mutual funds may cover prescribed acts, on presentation of the prescription and an itemised invoice. Private insurers apply their own limits. In Rabat, SAMU Rabat provides the supporting documents you need for your claim.
Public coverage: AMO and CNSS
In Morocco, the compulsory health insurance (AMO), managed notably by the CNSS, may cover part of the prescribed nursing acts (injections, dressings, samples) according to the applicable schedule and rate. Reimbursement assumes the care is medically justified and prescribed by a doctor. The amount and scope covered change over time: check with your fund to learn which acts are eligible and the rate applied to your situation. Always keep the prescription and the invoice.
Mutual funds and private insurers
Many employees and retirees hold a complementary mutual fund (public sector, companies, professions) that can top up the AMO share. Private insurers and international health contracts — common among expatriates and patients visiting Rabat — sometimes include a "home care" or "home hospitalisation" line. Each contract has its limits, deductibles and conditions. Check whether prior authorisation is required before the visit: some companies request it for scheduled care.
Documents to keep for reimbursement
To build a solid file, keep: the medical prescription, the itemised invoice (type of care, date, amount), and if relevant the hospital discharge report justifying continued home care. SAMU Rabat provides a clear, compliant invoice, essential for any reimbursement claim with the CNSS, a mutual fund or an insurer. Also keep proof of payment. A complete file speeds up processing and reduces back-and-forth with the organisation.
Our role in your reimbursement
We are not your insurer, but we make your steps easier. We advise you on the documents to gather, we issue compliant supporting documents, and we remain available for any additional item your organisation may request. Final reimbursement, however, rests with your fund, mutual or insurer and your contract. To know your exact coverage, contact your organisation before the visit; we adapt our schedule to any prior authorisations.
