The short answer
An at-home blood test works in four stages: you book an appointment, a certified phlebotomist comes to your home with all the equipment, performs the draw under the same hygiene conditions as a laboratory, and the samples are then transported to an accredited partner laboratory. Your results reach you within 24 to 48 hours, by email or in person. In Rabat, with a medical prescription, this service is covered by AMO, CNSS or private insurance.
The process, step by step
Here is how an at-home blood test goes, from first contact to results.
You book an appointment
By phone or on WhatsApp, you choose a slot. You tell us the prescribed tests: the phlebotomist tells you whether you need to fast.
The phlebotomist comes to you
A certified phlebotomist comes to your home with all the equipment: tubes, needles, tourniquet and antiseptic. No travel on your part.
The draw is performed
The blood draw is done under strict hygiene conditions, identical to a laboratory, in just a few minutes.
Samples go to the laboratory
The samples are transported, under proper storage conditions, to an accredited partner laboratory for analysis.
You receive your results
Within 24 to 48 hours, your results are sent to you by email or handed over in person, whichever you prefer.
How to prepare
Preparation depends on the test requested. For glucose, cholesterol and the lipid panel, you generally need to fast for 8 to 12 hours (you may drink water). For a CBC, thyroid panel and many other tests, fasting is not required. A few useful tips: wear clothing with easy-to-roll-up sleeves, stay hydrated the day before (unless told otherwise), and keep your prescription to hand. The phlebotomist always explains what to do when you book.
Types of tests available at home
Most routine tests can be done at home. Here are the main ones.
| Test | Fasting? | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| CBC (complete blood count) | No | General blood assessment |
| Blood glucose | Yes | Diabetes monitoring |
| Lipid panel (cholesterol) | Yes | Cardiovascular risk |
| Thyroid panel (TSH, T3, T4) | No | Thyroid function |
| Liver and kidney function | Per prescription | Organ function |
| Vitamin D, CRP, serologies | No | Deficiency and inflammation |
